We caught up with the Mae Valley girls to discuss their new music video and future plans.
You two have been putting in some hard work since leaving X-factor ten months ago. What were some of the biggest lessons you have learnt while making the new EP?
We have learnt so much since we started working on our EP! The X Factor was such a great platform for us and coming away from the show we really had to work hard at keeping up the momentum. Developing our sound, image and keeping our fans interested was a very important for us and we learnt a lot from this. We have learnt how exciting and rewarding it is to write, record and hear our own music come together and how much hard work it requires.
What can we expect from the new EP? Is it a similar sound to your previous tracks, or a mix?
Our EP is the first form of music that we have actually put out together as a duo. Our single Brightside has a very country/pop sound as well as some of the other songs on the EP. We do feel like each track on the EP are different from each other, although they all have a nice country/pop element to them… A Mae Valley touch!
Are you planning on doing an EP release tour?
We are really wanting to do a tour sometime soon to promote the EP. A lot of our fans haven’t been able to see us live as we have not performed in their city or town yet so we would absolutely love to do a bit of travelling and meet them all.
Who are your favourite artists right now, locally and internationally?
Locally, we love Ginny Blackmore (although she is doing so well internationally also!) and we are big fans of Jamie McDell. We have a bunch of international artists that we love right now including Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini (who we were lucky enough to open for recently on her iHeart radio show), Zac Brown Band, Cam and Little Big Tow.
