So. Satisfying.

Who loves blackhead pore strips? We do! Who loves masks like the Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment? We do!

But what we don’t love so much is the $109 price tag.

Don’t get us wrong, we know it works – like so many other blackhead-tackling products – but what if we told you there was a cheaper alternative? A DIY alternative?

YouTube vlogger Beautybyjosiek found a blackhead mask recipe on Pinterest and decided to try it out on her channel. The results were so amazing that we had to share it with you!

Check out the results of Josie’s mask in the video above!

You will need:

  • 1 little bowl
  • 1 teaspoon/3 capsules activated charcoal powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons non-toxic PVA glue
  • An old brush for application
  • Mint extract or peppermint extract, or any extract that you like but use it sparingly. One drop will suffice
  • A warm wash cloth

Step-by-step:

  1. Wash your face with warm water to open up your pores and remove any surface oil/dirt.
  2. Mix the activated charcoal, glue and extract together in a small bowl.
  3. Use a brush to apply one even coat of the mixture where you want to remove any blackheads, or over your entire face, avoiding any areas with facial hair.
  4. Wait approx. 20 to 40 minutes for the mask to dry completely. The mask should feel matte and tight.
  5. Find a loose edge along the bottom of the mask and begin to slowly peel off in a upward motion. Go slowly so as to remove as many blackheads as possible.
  6. Once you have removed the mask, use a warm damp cloth to wipe away any excess.
  7. Finish with toner, serum and moisturiser.

As with all skincare products, ensure you do a small patch test before proceeding with the above instructions. If you don’t want to apply to your whole face, it’ll work just as well on a single area like your nose.
