Cleansing karma

If you’ve slept in your makeup, vow to stock remover wipes beside your bed for next time, then remedy the situation ASAP with a gentle oil or milky cleanser. Rev up circulation and drain fluid retention with a mini massage as you cleanse, then shock your skin back to life by rinsing with cold water to reduce puffiness and tighten pores — apparently it’s Kate Moss’s go-to. Banish any lingering mascara with a cotton bud dipped in micellar water.

Round of drinks

Make rehydration your top priority — inside and out. Applying cooling eye pads or a hyaluronic acid serum-soaked sheet mask will return you to your aesthetic A-game quicker than you can say “Never again”. If you had to be out the door 10 minutes ago, reach for a fast-absorbing gel moisturiser. Spritz with a face mist containing glycerin throughout the day.

Bright eye-deas

Eye drops are good but a brightening concealer is even better. Choose one with light-reflecting abilities to camouflage those dark circles. Applying a nude or white liner to the waterline of your eyes is a quick trick to make them look brighter, and a squeeze with an eyelash curler will lift lashes and help you look more awake.

Come up rosy

Reanimating your face with minimal effort requires a multi-tasking cream colour. Using a BB cream or tinted primer is like waving a magic wand; it takes two seconds to transform blotchy skin, and all the better if it has a pearlescent element. Less is more, though, so don’t be tempted by full coverage. A rose-pink product (at a push, even a lipstick will do) dabbed on your lips, cheeks and eyes will leave you fresh-faced. Just a quick lick of mascara and you’re good to go.

If applying dry shampoo or styling spray won’t revive your limp locks, cut your losses and sweep your hair into a sleek ponytail or high bun — it’ll make you look peppy and restrain unruly strands. If your ’do has retained the aroma of last night’s location, mist it with a hair perfume to give it a subtly pretty scent.
