The smoothing shampoo bar you need to try

Dry, frizz-prone, or haywire locks? Friends of Miss FQ put the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo bar to the test, and here’s what happened.

The Miss FQ team is always on the lookout for innovative and eco-friendly beauty products, so when we heard about ecostore’s newest ‘Smoothing Shampoo’ bar, we were intrigued.

Of late, there’s been a rise in popularity of solid, plastic-free haircare bars among conscious consumers, and rightly so. There’s a lot to like about the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo bar. It’s free from silicone and soap, meaning there’s less product build-up on hair, nourishing ingredients can penetrate deeply into the hair follicles, and the hair’s natural keratin and oils aren’t stripped away.

Touting the ability to transform your hair into sleek, soft, and nourished locks, we were curious to see how well the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo bar would work on different hair types. We recruited a few friends with curly, straight, thick, and frizz-prone locks to see if the Smoothing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner bars could tame their manes — read their reviews and watch their video below.

I’ve always thought that shampoo bars wouldn’t work well with my hair type, as I’ve wondered if they’d actually prevent my curls from tangling.

Using the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo bar for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. The bar was straightforward to use, lathered nicely, and left my curls feeling soft, defined, and smooth.

My hair is usually frizzy after washing, but thanks to the Smoothing Shampoo bar, my curls looked much more defined. The omega-rich flaxseed oil and non-stripping properties ensured my hair was smooth, glossy, and nourished.

Ultimately, it feels good knowing I can achieve great results for my curls while using a plastic-free and vegan product. The ecostore bars are a must-have addition to your shopping cart.

Around wintertime, I typically notice a change in my hair. After months in the summer sun, it requires some moisture and TLC. Having only ever used liquid shampoo and conditioners, I was beyond excited to try out ecostore’s new Smoothing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner bars to see if they worked for me. I have a lot of hair, so finding a shampoo and conditioner that controls the volume of my hair and gives it a bit of shine is essential.

The ecostore bars are surprisingly easy to use. I first wet my hair, and then used the Smoothing Shampoo bar, creating a lather in my hands which I applied directly to my scalp and roots. Because the bar is formulated with flaxseed oil and shea butter, it added a lovely smell and silky texture to my hair.

Following this, I wet the Nourishing Conditioner bar before applying it to my hair, letting it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. The bar’s ingredients include chia and coconut oils, so my hair was left feeling smooth and it looked so shiny.

As someone who is quite particular about the beauty products I use, I really enjoyed trying these and will be using them again! They’re a must for those who like a fuss-free hair routine with maximum results.

For as long as I can remember, my hair has only been fashioned in one of two ways: a pony haphazardly pulled back; or slicked up for special occasions — the struggles of having frizzy hair.

Because my thick, wavy, type 2B hair is prone to drying and frizz, I’ve trialled many hair products over the years, searching for one that can smooth and nourish.

Using the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo bar, I started by lathering it in my hands and gently massaging it into my scalp. It lathered just the right amount (a tell-tale sign of a quality shampoo).

I then used the ecostore Nourishing Conditioner bar, working it through the middle of my hair to the tips. It left my hair smelling so sweet, like coconut.

After the first wash, my hair was noticeably more manageable and shiny. Once air-dried, glossy, tighter waves were apparent due to the products’ natural and non-stripping properties.

Overall, I love how my hair looks and feels without heat or styling, as well as knowing I’m using a brand that’s kind to our planet.

Being a first-time solid shampoo bar user, I was excited to try the ecostore Smoothing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner bars! After opening up the packaging, I quickly realised that these bars were not like regular ‘soap bars’. The ecostore bars have a mild pH (they contain no soap), and the texture is different.

The Smoothing Shampoo bar had a subtle fragrance which I enjoyed as it wasn’t too overpowering. It lathered up really well; you definitely don’t need to use much of it. Importantly, it didn’t leave any residue, and my hair felt super clean and nourished thanks to the omega-rich flaxseed oil.

I felt great knowing that these ecostore bars are helping me take a more environmentally friendly step in my haircare routine. The bars and packaging are plastic-free, and the ingredients in the bars are vegan and plant-based. I also love that they’re made in New Zealand!

If you’re looking to make the switch to zero-waste bars from liquid shampoo, I highly recommend trying the ecostore range. You’ll see the difference to your hair in no time at all.
